Easy Clean-Up Oven Cooked Bacon

The no-mess way to cook bacon: lay the slices on a wire rack over a foil-lined sheet pan and bake at 400°F until crispy. The grease drains away, cleanup is folding up the foil, and the bacon comes out evenly crisp.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bacon regular or thick-cut

Method

  1. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil, pinching the edges over the sides, and set a wire rack on top.
  2. Lay the bacon slices perpendicular to the wires of the rack. Slight overlap is fine since the bacon shrinks.
  3. Bake at 400°F about 15 minutes, checking at 10 minutes and every couple of minutes after until it is as crisp as you like. Thick-cut needs a few extra minutes.
  4. Remove carefully (the grease on the foil is hot), rest a moment on the rack and pat with a paper towel if you like.
  5. Fold up the foil with the grease inside and throw it away. No pan to scrub.

Notes

Perfect for BLTs, cobb salads, chicken bacon ranch paninis, or chopped into potato cheese soup.
