Ingredients
Method
- Heat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9 glass pan (or 8x8 for thicker brownies).
- Beat the cream cheese, 1 egg and 1/4 cup sugar with a hand mixer about 2 minutes until smooth. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips and set aside.
- Put the other cup of chocolate chips and the butter in a glass bowl set over a saucepan of boiling water. Stir continuously until melted and smooth.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the 1/2 cup sugar, 2 eggs, flour, baking powder and salt until smooth; the batter should fall slowly from the spatula.
- Spread half the brownie batter in the pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture over it, then drop the remaining brownie batter on top in blobs.
- Swirl a butter knife up and down across the pan for a marbled look.
- Bake 25-30 minutes (add 5-10 for an 8x8), until the edges crinkle and pull away from the sides. Cool in the pan on a rack 1 hour, then chill 2 hours before cutting.
Notes
Bake them before the family gets home and hide them, or they will be gone before you get one.
