My name is Heidi, and my journey to becoming Knoxville’s go-to baker began with a humble spinach casserole, a culinary disaster that ignited my love for cooking. When I first got married, my kitchen repertoire was limited to scrambled eggs and frozen lasagna. Determined to improve, I enrolled in home cooking classes and challenged myself to try a new recipe every week. Over time, I built my skills, gained confidence, and created hundreds of recipes that I’m proud to call my own.
In 2015, I realized my passion for cooking could inspire others. Though I dreamed of publishing a cookbook, the costs and logistics felt overwhelming. To share my recipes and build a foundation for the future, my husband, Dan, and I launched a food blog, Heidi’s Home Cooking. Through dedication and a love for sharing, the blog grew to reach over 1.3 million viewers annually. Connecting with so many home cooks and bakers has been an incredible blessing!
By 2017, my blog’s popularity led to requests from friends and family for custom baked goods. What started as a step toward writing a cookbook soon blossomed into the foundation of the bakery you know today.
In December 2021, Dan and I took a leap of faith and purchased a building for Heidi’s Bakery. After a year of planning, we began a 16-month renovation in December 2022, transforming the space into a warm and inviting bakery. In April 2024, we opened our doors to the community! Located at 4505 Greenway Drive in Fountain City, on Knoxville’s East side, Heidi’s Bakery is now a cherished spot for East Tennessee locals. We’re proud to offer specialty desserts, baked goods, custom cakes, grab-and-go lunches, and a cozy coffee shop experience.
What began as a simple dream has grown beyond anything we imagined. Our journey has been highlighted by local media like WBIR Channel 10 News, Knoxville News Sentinel, Knox TN Today, and City View Magazine, showcasing how Heidi’s Home Cooking evolved into a thriving bakery built on quality, community, and exceptional customer service.
