Do you ever crave a quick and easy dessert like this 3-ingredient chocolate cream pie? Whether it’s a late-night sweet tooth or a last-minute dish to take to a friend’s house, this pie has you covered. In my house, my hubby often gets the late-night nibbles and always wants a treat. So, I make this simple pie to satisfy his cravings.
I’ve also brought it to potlucks when I’m short on time, but I still want to bring something everyone will love. It’s plain, it’s easy, and while Food Network chefs might scold me for not being creative, it’s undeniably finger-licking good. I promise you’ll like it!
Why You’ll Love this 3-Ingredient Chocolate Cream Pie
This chocolate cream pie is fast, simple, and incredibly satisfying for any occasion. It’s the kind of recipe that delivers maximum flavor with minimal effort. Whether you’re preparing for a potluck, a casual family dinner, or just a late-night treat, it gets the job done every time.
Step 1: Chocolate Cookie Crust
Start with a premade chocolate cookie crust as the base of your 3-ingredient chocolate cream pie. It saves time and effort while still delivering that rich, chocolatey flavor everyone loves. I always look for the Oreo brand if it’s available… that’s definitely my go-to for this pie.
You can usually find these premade crusts in the baking aisle, right next to the pie fillings and chocolates. If you prefer, you can even make your own cookie crust by crushing chocolate sandwich cookies and mixing them with melted butter, but for this quick recipe, store-bought works like a charm.

Step 2: Chocolate Pudding
Now, make a batch of chocolate pudding. I mix one packet of instant chocolate pudding with 2 cups of low-fat milk and whisk it for 2 minutes. Then, I let it set in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. I know the package says “instant,” but it really is better to leave it in as long as possible. You can also use the Cook n Serve option if you prefer that flavor; you’ll just have to wait longer.

Once set, scoop the chocolate pudding into the chocolate crust and smooth the top.

If you want an added surprise to the chocolate cream pie, layer the bottom with chopped peanut butter cups or Butterfinger candies.
Step 3: Whipped Topping
Next, scoop on some defrosted whipped topping and spread it evenly over the chocolate cream pie. Make sure to cover the pudding layer completely for that classic creamy finish.

Lastly, take a small bar of chocolate and use a microplane or grater to sprinkle chocolate shavings on top. It’s a simple way to add a pretty decoration without a lot of fuss. I’ve even used a Reese’s peanut butter cup before, and it was absolutely delicious!

In the picture, I used a leftover Hershey bar from my kids’ Easter candy, but you can get creative with whatever chocolate you have on hand. A little garnish goes a long way in making this pie look as good as it tastes. 🙂
When to Serve This 3-Ingredient Chocolate Cream Pie
This is not a fancy pie, y’all. Don’t bring it to impress your future in-laws or serve it at a formal gathering. But if you’ve got a group of friends you can be yourself around, or if you’re planning a cozy family night, this 3-ingredient chocolate cream pie is perfect. It’s simple, delicious, and guaranteed to have everyone licking their spoons and scraping the pie tin for the last bite!
