Football season is upon us and that means you are bound to get the munchies on game day. Can you even watch a football game without eating? I don’t think it’s possible. Unless you’re in the heart of a packed-out stadium enjoying your favorite team in person, you’ll need some chips and dip to keep you company while you park it in front of the TV. Here are 6 of my favorite dips that are sure to leave your biggest bowl empty:
3 Ingredient Spicy Queso Dip
Football is practically synonymous with nachos, so you’ll need some kind of cheese dip for game day viewing. My husband and kids love this stuff! I love that I can make it as spicy or as mild as I choose.
4 Ingredient Black Bean Dip
This dip is really addicting! I think I could eat the whole bowl myself! I usually serve it with tortilla chips but sometimes I put it on a tasty flatbread or pita. If there is any left, which I highly doubt, you can slather it inside some tortillas for a quick burrito.
Restaurant Style Chunky Guacamole
Continuing the Mexican theme, you may like to have some fresh guacamole with your chips. If you are having guests, this is a great dip to set out because it is gluten and dairy free. No need for anyone to have an allergic reaction while your favorite team is playing!
Homemade Cilantro Lime Salsa
This salsa is so fresh and easy to make! Just pull out the food processor and blend everything up until your desired consistency. Add extra jalapeno seeds to make the salsa extra spicy or leave them out altogether.
Reduced Calorie Spinach Artichoke Dip
Don’t tell my husband, but this dip is reduced calorie! That means it has a third less calories than it’s fatty rival. It only takes 30 minutes to bake and it tastes great on sourdough bread, bagel bites, or pita chips.
Avocado & Cilantro Lime Dressing
Although this is technically a dressing, I use this as a healthy dip. I put it in the middle of a platter full of dippable vegetables (carrots, celery, broccoli, etc). It is truly hard to resist and has that “come back for more” flavor.
So what is your favorite dip? Better yet, which team are you routing on this year? I used to be fairly indifferent to football, occasionally watching a game here or there with my dad on a Saturday afternoon. But since moving to Knoxville, the Volunteer Nation’s enthusiasm and excitement has captured my attention. We went to a VOLS game last season at Neyland stadium and WOW! That was the largest, most intense group of people I have ever been among. It was a blast! So I have my game day orange and tickets all ready to go! GO VOLS!
